BODY DIVERSITY IS ABOUT LOVING ALL THE SUBTLETIES OF YOUR BODY AND ACCEPTING ITS LITTLE DEFAULTS. AFTER ALL, THAT BODY YOU HAVE CREATED ANOTHER HUMAN BEING! IT DESERVES SOME RESPECT. - Alexandra, pistachio ice cream lover and 500 days of Summer fan
Talking with Cato (who is now pregnant for the 2nd time) and Alexandra is inspiring. Becoming mothers didn't stop them from succeeding. Actually, it's the opposite. Cato will start a master's degree in literature next fall while Alexandra runs a cute little shop for kids that opened just a few days ago.
And when I ask them what they want to teach their daughters, both talk about self-confidence: to not be afraid of telling what they feel and what they think, to actually take the place they own and deserve in society.
Cato adds that she wants her daughter to keep questioning herself about the world and be grateful for what she has. We're taking notes.
I WANT TO BE AN INCLUSIVE FEMINIST AND I THINK BODY DIVERSITY IS LINKED TO THAT: WE HAVE TO SHOW MORE TRANS BODIES, MORE ETHNIES, MORE BODIES THAT DON'T FIT IN REGULAR JEANS, MORE HANDICAPPED BODIES, ETC. - Cato, eggs Benedict & coffee addict
Girls, thank you for doing this with us. Doing a shoot like this makes me like my job so much. I wish you the best - Cato, a life that allows you to write as much as you want and, Alexandra, a big family and house near a field of flowers.
