At Mimi & August, we are doing the best we can, with the resources we have, to offer you high quality products while controlling our impact on the environment and the society as much as possible.
In order to respect ourselves, respect others and respect the planet, we’re learning and adapting our methods day after day because we know a little change today can have a huge impact tomorrow.
Here’s what we are doing right now to reduce our negative impact on the world and to make difference, no matter how small, in our community.
AN EQUITABLE PRODUCTION, MADE HERE AND ABROAD
All our swimsuits and dresses are made in our Montreal workshop by our seamstresses. This way, we can ensure both the quality of our products and the quality of the work conditions.
Because high quality of products should not deprive people’s quality of living.
We encourage attention to details and a work nicely-done, but we also encourage local craftsmanship, economical development and the creation of sustainable employment. Since September 2016, parts of our t-shirts are made in Peru in a little family business where Junior, a friend of Joao’s family, and his relatives make our Pima cotton t-shirts. You can take a look at when we visited this Lima ethical factory here ( https://mimiandaugust.blog/2016/10/25/mimi-in-peru/).
We’re working with a Montreal-based company that delivers packages almost everywhere in Montreal on bikes! It’s obviously good for the environment because no fuel is used, but for our clients too; they receive their order within a few days, sometimes a few hours.
FIBERS & FABRICS
We use digital printing for our swimsuits fabrics. Digital printing is a much more ecological option than sublimation; it uses less water and wastage.
